What a day!!!!

Today turned out to be such an exciting day!  First we had a visit from 3 cute, fluffy kittens called Marmalade, Gingernut and Pip.  Hannah and her family have been fostering them for the last 3 weeks since the S.P.C.A are closed due to a cat virus.  What a great way to show kindness and compassion.

Next Saleh shared something special that he has been working on at home.  Isn't he clever! We enjoyed listening to him and seeing the finished result.

To cap off a brilliant morning Charlotte brought some ice-cream to share that she had made at home.  It was her optional extra for homework last week as a follow-up to our Fonterra milk day.  Creamy chocolate with chocolate chunks. - It was delicious!!!!

Fonterra Milk Fun Day!

On Friday we celebrated one year of 'milk in schools in Otago'.  Mr Galloway wasn't exactly sure how the day would work, as LOTS of people had been invited.  Luckily not everyone could make it, being a rainy day we would never have fitted into the hall!

Eight of the Highlanders came to help us celebrate. They had to learn how to fold the milk cartons and were trained to do this by children from Year 6. Mrs Loretan and Mr Vinicome, as well as Harvey one of the tanker drivers joined in the race.  Ben Smith (trained by a proud Ben Paku) was the winner!

There were two Fonterra Milk tankers parked in our playground, and Room 10 braved the elements to check them out.

Then we had a yummy lunch from Pita Pit, provided by Fonterra Milk. We ate them at our desks.

Finally, some children went into a milk carton folding competition.  Saleh was very quick at this but he didn't win the over all competition.
